Beef Bhuna

Beef bhuna is very delicious and perfect for a special occasion like Eid and makes a terrific family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef
  • 2 cups onion chopped/sliced
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1.5 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 0.5 tbsp fried cumin powder
  • salt as per taste
  • 1.5 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1/4 tsp mace powder
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
  • 2-1 pcs cinnamon
  • 3-4 pcs cardamom
  • 2-3 pcs cloves
  • 6-7 pcs black pepper
  • 2-1 pcs bay leaves
  • 0.5 cup oil
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 5-6 pcs green chili
  • 1/3 cup onion fried

Instructions

  • Wash, drain, and add beef to a pan.
  • Add 2 cups of chopped onion.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, fried cumin powder, salt, garlic paste, ginger paste, yogurt, nutmeg powder, mace powder, white pepper powder, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, bay leaves, and oil.
  • Mix them very well with your hand.
  • Marinate for 30 mins closing the pan with a lid.
  • After 30 mins cook for 5 mins on high flame. The lid remains closed.
  • Then cook for 60 mins on medium flame. Stir occasionally.
  • Add 1 cup hot water and green chilies.
  • Cook for 10 mins on medium flame without the lid. Stir occasionally.
  • Add the fried onions (break them a little bit before adding). Mix well.
  • Keep cooking on medium flame until the broth becomes thick on your desired level.
  • Your beef bhuna is ready to serve.
