Beef Liver Curry (Kolija Bhuna)

Delicious beef liver curry is a must-have Eid ul Adha dish. The recipe is easy to follow yet quite tasty!

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef liver
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 4-5 pcs cardamom
  • 2-1 pcs bay leaves
  • 10-12 pcs black pepper
  • 2-1 pcs cinnamon
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1 cup onion sliced/chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion paste
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin paste
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 3 cups water
  • 5-6 pcs green chili
  • 1 tsp fried cumin powder

Instructions

  • In a pan boil 6-7 cups of water.
  • Wash the liver very well and cut it into cube sizes. Add them to the boiling water. Turn off the heat and leave it in boiling water for 30 minutes.
  • After 30 mins, remove the liver from the water.
  • Rinse well with water.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, and black pepper. Stir for some time.
  • Add 1 cup of chopped onion. Stir until it turns slightly brown. Add salt during the process.
  • Add 1/4 cup of onion paste. Stir until the raw smell goes away.
  • Add garlic paste, ginger paste, and cumin paste and stir very well for some time.
  • Add a little bit of water. Add red chili powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder. Stir very well until the raw smell disappears.
  • Add the beef liver.
  • Mix and close the lid. Cook for 10 mins on medium flame. Stir occasionally.
  • Add 3 cups of hot water.
  • Add green chilies. Give a mix and cook for 30 mins on medium flame. Stir occasionally.
  • Remove the lid and cook until the water dried to the desired level.
  • Add the fried cumin powder. Mix and cook for 2-1 mins.
  • Your beef liver curry is ready to serve.
